With November’s shorter days and chill in the air, it’s time to think about tidying up your garden for winter. The trees are still an array of beautiful colours, but the leaves are falling rapidly helped along by strong winds and rain. Enjoy the remaining autumn flowering plants, and beautiful leaf colours. Keep bird feeders stocked up as food and berries start to dwindle.
Hellebore Christmas Rose – dark green leaves contrasting with delicate white flowers
Skimmia japonica Rubella – evergreen compact shrub with pretty red flower buds lasting all winter
Good time to…
Prune back roses to prevent root rock
Leaf clearance – try to keep them off lawns
Cut back and tidy flowerbeds
Plant some winter bedding for colour – cyclamen, heather, skimmia and dogwood
